Laurie Holloway
Laurie Holloway started to play the piano at the tender age of 4 and at 16 he was on the road as a fully fledged professional musician and was most recently the Musical Director for ‘The Michael Parkinson Show’, the highly successful “Strictly Come Dancing” Television Series and ‘The Dame Edna Treatment’.
Laurie’s CV displays a rogue’s gallery of diversity. Writing, playing and being Musical Director for singers from Judy Garland & Liza Minnelli, Sammy Davis Jr., Dame Cleo Laine, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Mel Torme, the late Joe Williams and song writer Sammy Cahn; and more recently Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Lesley Garrett, Marion Montgomery and Elaine Paige, with whom he also appeared as Musical Director of “Piaf” in London’s West End, directed by Sir Peter Hall. He has been Musical Director for Bob Monkhouse, Ronnie Corbett, Rolf Harris, Bruce Forsyth, Dame Edna Everage and Lily Savage among numerous other notable Light Entertainment figures.
Laurie has been awarded the Gold Badge of Merit by The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters and he has been the subject of “This is your Life”.
